Bezeichnung, die Tatsumi Yoshihiro aufstellte, um sich vom Manga für Kinder zu lösen. Mit dünner Strichführung, dichten Schatten und filmischer Panelfolge behandelte er gesellschaftliche Themen und Gewalt für Erwachsene. Er erweiterte den Themenraum des Comics entscheidend.
