Eine kurzlebige Bewegung, die die Farbe von der Beschreibung ihres Gegenstands löste und reine Töne als flache Felder auf die Leinwand schleuderte. Der Pinselstrich selbst trägt die Kontur, und benachbarte Komplementärfarben bringen die Fläche zum Vibrieren. Sie wurde zum Ausgangspunkt jeder späteren Gestaltung, die Farbe als Mittel der Emotion einsetzt.
