Une méthode qui remplace l'intuition impressionniste par la théorie optique, alignant des points de couleur pure non mélangée pour qu'ils se fondent sur la rétine. La discipline du divisionnisme et du pointillisme a traité par avance les mêmes problèmes que la trame d'imprimerie, la mosaïque et la construction d'images par pixels.
