Eine Methode, die die impressionistische Intuition durch optische Theorie ersetzte und Punkte ungemischter reiner Farbe setzte, die sich erst auf der Netzhaut verbinden. Die Disziplin von Divisionismus und Pointillismus bearbeitete vorweg dieselben Probleme wie später Rasterdruck, Mosaik und der Bildaufbau aus Pixeln.
