Synchromism
シンクロミズム / 1912–1918 / Style / Geometric Abstraction
Die erste in Amerika entstandene abstrakte Bewegung, die nach dem Vorbild der musikalischen Harmonik die Farbe selbst zur Struktur erklärte. Nach der Spektralfolge angeordnete Farbflächen erzeugen in ihrer Drehung Tiefe, die Form folgt der Farbe nach. Der Werktitel „Synchromie“ (Zusammenklang der Farben) war zugleich das Programm.

- Adding a keyline to hold the shapes together: as soon as an outline carries the structure, colour stops doing the work and the whole premise is void.
