Mouvement qui contesta frontalement le postulat moderniste faisant de l'ornement une chose inférieure. Il porta à grande échelle la répétition des géométries islamiques, du quilt, du papier peint et du textile, et plaça les travaux d'aiguille féminins et les styles non occidentaux au centre de l'art. Le point de départ d'une pensée politique de l'ornement.
