Compose two styles
Rather than blending two styles into a middle, this assigns them roles: one carries the structure, the other appears as an accent. Where the two fight, it says so before you start.
How to divide the work
- Composition
- Follow Fluent 2: Fix spacing to multiples of one base and keep density variants as separate tokens.
- Type
- Set in Fluent 2's manner (Define size and leading as tokens and never hardcode values in a screen.), and let Material You / Material 3's lettering (Assign text colors by role and keep raw values out of screen code.) appear only where you want the eye to catch.
- Material
- Ground in Fluent 2's material (Mica for the window ground, Acrylic only for surfaces that appear briefly.); bring in exactly one thing from Material You / Material 3 (Verify contrast in both light and dark for every wallpaper derived palette.).
- Colour
- Build on #f1f3f5, #6b8eaa, #242a31 and admit one accent from #e9e2f3, #7b6a9e, #2f283a.
Where they fight
These two are already listed as related, so the join should come easily.
Caution
- Fluent 2 Match blur and shadow to surface role, window state and light, dark and high contrast. Adding one off colors and paddings per screen turns the unifying system into one more thing to maintain.
- Material You / Material 3 Pale tints and big radii are not the system, so design color roles, states, accessibility and user driven variation, and keep a brand hue so the app stays recognizable.
Image prompt
An original image that takes its structure from Fluent 2 (Style, 2022–) and its accent from Material You / Material 3 (Style, 2021–). Structural cues: Mica and Acrylic; Neutral tonal hierarchy; Soft corner radii; Tokenized depth. Accent cues, used sparingly: Dynamic color; Large corner radii; Personalized themes; Adaptive components. Composition: Fix spacing to multiples of one base and keep density variants as separate tokens.. Type and lettering: Define size and leading as tokens and never hardcode values in a screen.. Let one material quality come from the second style: Verify contrast in both light and dark for every wallpaper derived palette.. Mood: Trust, Technology, Calm, Intimacy, Play. Color: build on #f1f3f5, #6b8eaa, #242a31 with a single accent drawn from #e9e2f3, #7b6a9e, #2f283a. Constraints: do not imitate, reference or name any specific artist, studio, brand, character or copyrighted work. Produce an original composition in the general period languages described above.
