Compose two styles
Rather than blending two styles into a middle, this assigns them roles: one carries the structure, the other appears as an accent. Where the two fight, it says so before you start.
How to divide the work
- Composition
- Follow Synthwave: Low horizon, central perspective, gigantic title
- Type
- Set in Synthwave's manner (Oblique sans with script accents), and let Vaporwave's lettering (Serifs, pixel faces, fragments of Japanese) appear only where you want the eye to catch.
- Material
- Ground in Synthwave's material (Black, magenta, cyan, glow); bring in exactly one thing from Vaporwave (Purple and aqua, low resolution, VHS noise).
- Colour
- Build on #100b2f, #ff2ca7, #24d9ff and admit one accent from #532d8f, #ee72c8, #66dbe0.
Where they fight
- Both belong to Digital Retro, so the difference is small. Push the roles further apart than feels comfortable.
Caution
- Synthwave Sun and grid alone are overfamiliar. Add story elements of your own.
- Vaporwave Don't reduce Japanese to meaningless decoration. Bring criticism or personal memory.
