Compose two styles
Rather than blending two styles into a middle, this assigns them roles: one carries the structure, the other appears as an accent. Where the two fight, it says so before you start.
How to divide the work
- Composition
- Follow Kidcore: Layer sticker-like elements
- Type
- Set in Kidcore's manner (Big rounded letters, hand lettering), and let Minimalism's lettering (A light sans-serif or a well-cut serif) appear only where you want the eye to catch.
- Material
- Ground in Kidcore's material (Red, yellow, blue, plastic, thick outlines); bring in exactly one thing from Minimalism (Nearly achromatic; texture in exactly one place).
- Colour
- Build on #ffdf32, #f33f56, #2f75d6 and admit one accent from #efede5, #b7b0a2, #20201d.
Where they fight
- Kidcore and Minimalism share no intent, so the contrast has to become the subject rather than something to smooth over.
Caution
- Kidcore Don't confuse child-directed with childish. Mind age-appropriateness and safety.
- Minimalism Missing information is not minimal. Decide priorities before you cut.
Image prompt
An original image that takes its structure from Kidcore (Style, 1990s nostalgia) and its accent from Minimalism (Style, 1960s–). Structural cues: Primary colors; Smileys; Rainbows; Toy shapes. Accent cues, used sparingly: Vast white space; Few elements; Quiet color; Precise spacing. Composition: Layer sticker-like elements. Type and lettering: Big rounded letters, hand lettering. Let one material quality come from the second style: Nearly achromatic; texture in exactly one place. Mood: Play, Exhilaration, Nostalgia, Calm, Trust. Color: build on #ffdf32, #f33f56, #2f75d6 with a single accent drawn from #efede5, #b7b0a2, #20201d. Constraints: do not imitate, reference or name any specific artist, studio, brand, character or copyrighted work. Produce an original composition in the general period languages described above.
