Compose two styles
Rather than blending two styles into a middle, this assigns them roles: one carries the structure, the other appears as an accent. Where the two fight, it says so before you start.
How to divide the work

- Follow Critical Regionalism: Decide the section from sunlight and wind direction and let the plan follow from it.
- Type
- Set in Critical Regionalism's manner (Respect the local sign system and do not overwrite it with an imported typeface.), and let Metabolist Architecture's lettering (Number the joints on drawings so each exchangeable unit has a name.) appear only where you want the eye to catch.
- Material
- Ground in Critical Regionalism's material (Work materials from the region with contemporary methods.); bring in exactly one thing from Metabolist Architecture (Factory made precast and room pods joined by visible metal connections.).
- Colour
- Build on #e9e6dd, #67635d, #171615 and admit one accent from #dfdfd8, #77818a, #25292d.
Where they fight
- Both belong to Modern Architecture, so the difference is small. Push the roles further apart than feels comfortable.
Caution
- Critical Regionalism Applying folk craft motifs is the opposite attitude. Regional character enters as a condition, not as an appearance.
- Metabolist Architecture Quoting the capsule shape without deciding how and at what cost units are swapped leaves the imagery and no renewal. Grasp the system thinking that answered population growth and urban renewal.
