Style du paysage américain qui déploie, sur une surface lisse et sans trace de pinceau, une lumière atmosphérique qui se dégrade jusqu'à l'horizon. Les figures sont minuscules, l'eau reste immobile comme un miroir et la lumière elle-même devient le sujet. Un manuel de composition pour construire le calme.
